Rights and Obligations.
All members of the EPFL and UNIL campus are welcome to join the theatre company. A basic level of English is required, as the team includes both native speakers and members who wish to practice their English. Each project is a wonderful adventure, during which we all contribute to allow the best possible organisation and lots of fun.
ET Cetera is a member of EPFL Pôle d’expression théâtrale (PET yearly contribution: 10.-).
Aside the PET yearly contribution of 10.-, being part of ET Cetera is free. None of us pays to act and none of us is paid.
-
ET Cetera's theater season is from October 2022 - to May 2023.
Rehearsals are primarily held in a room at EPFL. However, during EPFL's winter break, there is a possibility that some rehearsals will be held in UNIL.
ET Cetera rehearses once a week from 18:30 to 21:00. The team determines the day of the week on the second week of rehearsals.
Starting from January, ET Cetera rehearses every other Sunday in addition to the weekly rehearsal. Sunday rehearsals are held from 10:00 AM to 16:00. Rehearsals may be held during the Easter Holidays.
Depending on the progression of the play, additional rehearsals may be added.
An official schedule is drawn up within the first few weeks of rehearsals.
To be fair to the rest of the team, you need to respect the fixed schedule and inform them of any absences or delays.
Depending on the size of your role in the play, you might not be scheduled for every rehearsal.
-
Every actor commits to learning their lines for each week's rehearsal.
You need to learn your lines to the point that you can act without your script by the end of the first semester (December).
By the beginning of the second semester (January), no scripts are allowed when rehearsing the play other than annotating the director's comments.
If you have issues with learning your lines, you need to inform the director in November.

ET Cetera is part of the PET (Pôle d'Expression Théâtrale), an association that regroups four different theater companies and two improv groups. We have a Costumes Storage Room and Set Storage Room at our disposal that require organizing once a year. Each team commits to helping out during those two days.
In addition to that, each team is required to help out during the days of building and dismantling the SPO (Salle Polyvalente de l'EPFL). Depending on the year, there might be 2 to 4 days of building.
The director might delegate specific roles to the team, such as assistant, admin assistant, treasurer, social media manager, marketing manager, spokesperson, head of set or costume department, head of scheduling, director of venue management, leader of script and subtitle management, etc.

The marketing manager must also partake in any promotional collaboration with festivals or other theatre troops.
